Why do i get reoccurring mrsa skin abscesses? i've been getting them on/off for 3 yeara. also, how long should i take antibiotic when i get an abs.?

There is also some evidence that the mucous in your nasal passages may be infected and this is often treated with intra-nasal medications.

You're colonized: You should try to get decolonized to prevent the recurrent infections. First try nasal Bactroban Ointment twice a day with hibiclens soap daily showers and shampoos for 10 days. If that doesn't work try oral antibiotic treatment with Doxycycline or septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) plus Rifampin and repeat the bactroban/hibiclens treatment at the same time.
