Yes: One type of ic is more commonly associated with older women in which case the bladder may be markedly contracted and there are "hunner's" ulcers or splits in the bladder lining. Second type, more commonly in younger women and the occasional male has similar symtoms of pain, blood in urine plus bladder overactivity, but bladder is normal or larger than normal in size & responds better to treatment.
