A member asked:

Thyroid ultrasound reveals that 2 nodules prev.ultrasound & bio. 6 months ago have now grown to 2.6x2.7cm compared to 1.9x1.7cm previously. worrisome?

The safest thing: To do with pathologically proven benign nodules that demonstrate that kind of interval growth is repeat fna biopsy. The procedure has a very low complication rate and most patients find it to be painless. Other measures might include TSH measurement and, if it is depressed, a radionuclide scan to see if the nodule(s) are "hot" or producing excessive thyroid hormone. These nodules are benign.
