A member asked:

My neuro put me back on a higher dose of topamax (topiramate) and it seems to be helping. if i get a h/a nothing will get rid of it though. why?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

?nothing?: Glad topirimate is working as a preventative, but several triptans might be considered if a headache occurs. Success with these drugs far higher if taken within first 60-90 minutes. Might try relpax, treximet, frova, or zomig nasal spray. Alternatives could include ergot amines, cambia, and dolovent. Would avoid analgesics, tylenol, (acetaminophen) and nsaid's.
