Every human being : Typically has the potential of having 52 teeth -- 20 primary (baby teeth) that appear between ages 6 months and 5 years and can be present at times into adulthood. The permanent teeth (adult teeth) equal 32 in number and typically replace all the baby teeth. If some permanent teeth are missing, the baby teeth in those areas can be over-retained. Adult teeth typically erupt between ages 6 - 18.
