Need diagnostic aids: Swelling and pain in this area are my criteria of ordering a venous doppler exam to make sure there is not a blood clot. Once this is established and ruled out, i'm thinking achilles tendon injury. The only way this could be determined is via mri. There is something going on there to cause these symptoms.

DVT? - go to the E.R: If you are having severe pain in the calf, particularly with squeezing and with activity, it could be a deep vein thrombosis and is an emergency! go to the E.R.!
