Will do fine: Vsd's are treatable and she should do fine. Partner with a good pediatric cardiologist, and ask them to MAP out a time line for when they would want to intervene. Often these will be watched for a period of time if the heart is not showing signs of excessive strain because of the hole. There are many different closure ways these days, some involving only a catheterization to close it up!

She will be OK. : Your daughter's prognosis depends on the size, type and location of the vsd. If it is large or (hemodynamically significant) then she should have (or have had) surgical repair. The fact that she still hasn't had repair indicates that probably her vsd is small or "restrictive". Some vsds may become smaller or close spontaneously & some may require surgical repair, and outcome is usually excellent.

Depends on the size : It depends on the size of the defect. A small vsd requires no rx, unless it is close to the ao valve and causes the ao valve to leak. Larger defects may require surgery, depending on the size and location. She should be followed by a pediatric cardiologist.

Depends: Depends on the size of the vsd, other associated heart/medical problems. In general, simple vsds are treated successfully and those people can, and often do, go on to live happy and fulfilling long lives. The life span is not well documented as we really only began repairing vsds in the 50s-60s. But again, the answer depends on your child's specific case. Discuss this with her cardiologist.
