By definition: Addictions do not just go away. Once you are addicted to something, it does not go away. You can learn to control it, but must always stay vigilant or it will come back at a higher level than before you stopped using the substance. Good luck and don't be afraid to get help to overcome it.

Not if Addiction: One of the signs of addiction is an ongoing risk of relapse--either returning to a behavior or a substance. There may be a time of not engaging in the addiction but--by definition-if you can walk away from it forever without the slightest difficulty, then it was not likely an addiction.Tension or strain often triggers activity in brain stress circuits ; addiction activity restarts without support.
