Taking .25mg of xanax (alprazolam) per day(as prescribed by my pcp). it's only been about a couple of weeks. what is the likelihood of addiction/withdrawal?

Fairly Low: At that dose only once a day addiction would be fairly low. Normally that, dose would be used for sleeping or anxiety issues. Dependency on that level of the med would be more a mental (thinking you have to have it) rather than a physical addiction. Taking an occasionally "holiday" - or skipping a daily dose on occasion can not only lessen the risk of dependency but may make it more effective too.

Addiction and Xanax (alprazolam): If you are taking this daily more than seven days in a row there is a very high likelihood that you are or will be addicted to it. This medication does not prevent anxiety. It does not cure anxiety. It is thought of as a pill form or alcohol. It temporarily allows the patient to be sedated. One should think of it as the "mommies happy little pills' from the 1950s. We should be preventing anxiety.
