Healing scars: When our bodies sustain an injury, the immediate response is inflammation (red, hot, tender swelling). This is the body increasing the blood flow and bringing healing factors to the area and also the veins expand to carry bad stuff away. As healing occurs, new tissues fill in that are different than normal and less elastic. This is a scar. Over time it will fade in color but always be there.

Difficult...: Depends on the depth and color of the scars. For smaller scars you could try a vitamin E lotion. You may actually get more for your money with microderm abrasion or chemical peels.

Improve, not remove: Scars are permanent. Having said that, there are ways to make them less noticeable. The first is time: scars mature over 6-18 months and don't assume their final form till then. Other methods are pressure, silicone sheeting, mederma, steroid injections or surgery. Surgery is a last resort for most scars, but many can be improved in this way if all else fails.

Topical care: Typically these areas can be treated either with topical bleaching products, chemical peels of laser therapy. It depends on your skin type and the depth of the scarring. See your dermatologist and be evaluated [professionally.

Faster: If two weeks on topical benzoyl peroxide has not cleared you, or if you have trunk acne, get with your personal physician now. The right mix of topical retinoic acid derivative, topical / systemic antibiotic or perhaps spironolactone or Isotretinoin (or if you're a "she", the oral contraceptive pill) should have you clear in a few weeks.

Inflammation: If your acne/pimples were recent and they're just now going away after treatment, you may just still have some inflammation from your body trying to fight off the cause of the pimple in the first place...Bacteria. It may however be possible to use a topical steroid to reduce the inflammation, like Hydrocortisone which you can get over the counter.
