Acne scar treatment: For shallow acne scarring, dermabrasion and co2 lasers can help smooth the skin. For deeper scarring, excision of the scars followed by closure with stitches is usually required. If redness is secondary to an acne outbreak, treating the outbreak should resolve it. For chronic redness, first see a dermatologist as you may have a treatable rash. Otherwise, hydroquinone cream can lighten the skin.
