ACL rehab: This is dependent on what your physician's protocol says and how you are progressing in physical therapy. Typically between 6-9 months is when people begin these "sport type" movements (cutting, pivoting, twisting). You should begin these only when cleared by your surgeon and under the supervision of a physical therapist or athletic trainer.

Depends...: Return to sport after an acl tear depends on if you are able to compensate for the torn ligament with strength of the surrounding muscles. You will be able to get back to in-line sports on even surfaces more quickly. A physical therapist can help guide you. If you are having episodes of instability, you are progressing too quickly.
