Yes, it could: Nasonex (mometasone) is a nasal steroid spray indicated for the treating the inflammation of the nose due to allergies. A primary symptom of nasal inflammation due to allergic rhinitis is nasal congestion/plugging from swollen nasal passages. If there are other causes for the nasal passage swelling, the benefit may not be seen.
