LPR: Laryngopharyngeal reflux or LPR is when you get reflux all the way from your stomach to your voice box. The material that comes up includes hydrochloric acid, gastrin and pepsin. These are all very caustic materials that burn and cause injury to the delicate tissues of the voice box, including the muscles of the voice box that you use to speak. Think of LPR as a voice box trauma. Get checked.
