Diet and lifestyle : For my patients i advise the following: avoid, any of the following: acidic foods, dairy, chocalate, mint, caffeine, spicy foods. At least for the next couple of weeks. Sleep on a wedge pillow (chest above you stomach, but not so that your chin is to your chest). And avoid tight fitting clothes. One can also take the pill twice a day or a couple of weeks.

Acid reflux vs drip: Reflux and post-nasal drainage can both cause symptoms like you mention. It can take quite a while for the drainage due to reflux to improve: up to three months in some cases. Mucinex (guaifenesin) can also help the gravelly voice: you can take up to 1200 mg twice a day. It helps by thinning the secretions and making them seem like saliva. We swallow lots of that each day anyway
