Work Up: Hopefully, with these symptoms you have had your back pain and leg symptoms worked up with a MRI at the very least. It is important to have a correct diagnosis. Numbness from the waist down is a very concerning finding. You would probably benefit from a visit to your internist/family physician and perhaps from seeing a neurologist.

Not so simple: Organic numbness from waist downwards is indicative of thoracic spinal cord pathology, and may be due to extrinsic compression by a bony spur or ruptured disc, if due to trauma. This is not trivial and needs full evaluation, as risk to leg strength, bowel and bladder fnctn. Recommend visit to spinal surgeon or neurologist, and please do not delay!
