Back pain: The back pain you are having may be related to some other nerve roots, to the muscles that help strengthen your back, or perhaps some other problem. L5-S1 should not affect numbness to the level of your ribs, that is why a new issue could be happening. It is not likely though. What kind of surgery did you have? How long ago was it? Do you have any treatments for your symptoms? PT?
