GP or OS?: That depends upon the ability of the general dentist and your own personal preferences. There are many excellent dentists who remove even badly impacted teeth, while others feel either they are not qualified or prefer not to extract teeth. If you need IV sedation, i would recommend seeing an oral surgeon. If not, discuss this issue with your own dentist. If in doubt, go with the os.

Eithetr one: Just get it out. It is usuallu a simple procedure. If it isn't for some reason, your dentist will refer you elsewhere.

Unrelated: The abscessed or not abscessed tooth is irrelevent to whether a general dentist or an oral sergeon should do the extraction. Oral sergeons are trained to extractions that are more complicated. An abscessed tooth is not necessarily a more complicated extraction.

Depends: Procedures that go smoothly appear to be easy. Pre planning and training play a major role in how smoothly procedures go. One never knows what unexpected problems will occur and therefore i always recommend patients select the best trained person available. Good luck -.
