Tongue tumors: The simplest difference is looking at tongue tumors is benign versus malignant. Malignant means cancer and benign means not cancer. Malignant tumors invade into surrounding tissues and have irregular borders or can cause an ulcer. Benign lesion often have smooth well-defined border. It is often difficult to tell without a biopsy, though. If you have a tongue tumor, get it checked out soon.
