A member asked:

My 1 year old daughter was burnt on her leg from the steam of the iron..how should i take care of this...and how do i get the mark to go away?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Scalds: Burn from steam are scalds, if exposure was brief and the area burnt is really small then, rinsing the burn immediately under cold tap water for 10 min, do not put a bandage or gauze around. If a blister forms then it's a second degree burn, do not pop the blister. For pain tylenol (acetaminophen) can work. If the burn is bigger and deeper then her doctor will prescribe silvadine cream.
