Might even help: When your abdomen is stretched out, like when you're standing or lying down, there is decreased abdominal pressure compared to sitting and should therefore decrease the amount of pressure on an umbilical hernia. Also, standing will overall improve your health and core musculature, which should also help!

Depends: Depends possibly on the size of your abdominal girth & which position causes more strain at the umbilical area. If the mid abdomen is fairly large, then standing might cause more pressure at the umbilicus. What position causes the least tension on your abdominal wall? When is your abdominal wall more loose & relaxed?
