Sleeping Trouble: I assume he is close to your age. There should be no sleeping pill. This is the wrong approach for one who is so young. Pills lead to addiction, obsession and do not solve the underlying problems. Your boyfriend may be wise to do some online research on how to learn to fall asleep again. How to train one's brain to get to sleep. This is a good skill to have as he ages and has more stress.

Sleep hygiene: Before resorting to sleeping pills, he can review and implement sleep hygiene recommendations. For a good description of these, see: http://www.Sleepfoundation.Org/article/ask-the-expert/sleep-hygiene he can also consider relaxing teas such as chamomile, or gaia sleep & relax before bed. If none of these measures help, consider a sleep study. His physician can help with a referral if needed.
