The most extreme possible fix is surgery but there are also sprays that can be squirted up the nose before bed, strips that can be put on the nose, and other devices that can be experimented with. If you think he stops breathing sometimes he may have sleep apnea and his doc can have a sleep lab study done to find out. Peace and good health.

See below: A white noise device can help, if you do not prefer to sleep in different rooms. Also, if your boyfriend gasps/chokes at night periodically, has morning headaches, daytime sleepiness, night time acid reflux, and/or dry mouth, it is recommended he consult a sleep doctor for evaluation of sleep apnea (including a look if he has nasal obstruction or congestion).
