Repeat films: If you have had a recent injury, it often occurs that the first x-ray doesn't show the problem. After a week, however, the bone may have had some time to swell with inflammation, and then a hairline fracture may be visible. If you have not had an injury or the pain is older, then you may need to immobilize, treat for pain, and have an MRI for a more clear picture of your area of severe pain.

Pain with tapping: Pain with tapping usually is nerve related. I would get a nerve conduction study and mabe a cortisone injection to the area. You got an x-ray so go back to the dr that saw you.

Xrays: Agree with previous answers and add that it could also be tendon pain or due to your history of "tumor", these may not viewable on xrays. Agree if rest, ice, immobilization iwth strapping/ brace and antiinflammatory meds don't help, get evaluated and possible advanced imaging (mri). Best of luck.
