Difficult to say : This could be normal or a nonunion or a malunion or infection. In the absence of pain it is likely normal. However in the absence of an exam and adequate x-rays this is impossible to diagnose over the internet. See your surgeon for a full explanation.

Thumb swelling: Hard to comment with certainty without more detail, but in general after surgery it's not unusual to have some degree of chronic scarring internally that can account for this. Having said that, you should certainly check with whoever put in the screws i.E if it's for a fracture maybe the bone has not fully healed, or a screw loosened or moved etc...
