Can a person do too much and have a relapse with shingles?

Depends: Relapses may occur . Is it another location? Is it as extensive ! have you checked your antibody titers? Being an infectious process, anything that may suppress your immune system may predispose to new and recurrent infections.

Shingles: No. Shingles is due to reactivation of the herpes zoster virus. As you get older your immune system memory cells decline and your ability to hold the virus in check declines. Once you have had shingles, you develop a much higher level of protection against the virus. It will only come back if your immune system is weakened for some reason (such as chemotherapy or hiv) if it does you need checking.
