Possibly contagious: If any one has shingles, the patient has vesicles in a dermatomal distribution. Those vesicles could be contagious. It would be most important not to expose immunocompromised people such as transplant patients, people on steroids for collagen-vascular diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, and the very old and the very young. High risk people should be immunized a.S.A.P.
