EPISTAXIS: Pinch the bleeding nostril to stop bleeding due to the sensitive "little's area" you can apply ice to constrict the bleeders. If it is worse, pack the nose with vaselinized gauze or cauterize with silver nitrate done by your md or ent.

Be seen: The child needs to be seen. If it is actively bleeding, then you can use afrin (oxymetazoline) nose spray to stop the bleeding temporarily, but s/he should be seen.

Duration : If the bleeding is brief and easily controlled, then a visit to your pediatrician to review the need for additional lab testing is indicated. If th bleeding is not well controlled w pressure for five minutes, please see your pediatric urgent care center or the emergency room. They may need to apply packing materials into the nasal passage and to test for bleeding abnormalities.
