Basics: Bright blood means tissue damage. When it comes from the nose it is usually from the surface capillaries in the nasal membranes. These can be traumatized if the kid rubs it's face into its linen or from infection or trauma directly to the area. It has little significance in small amounts. Nasal washout with normal saline often helps clear it up.
