A member asked:

My mother (55years) spotted bleeding after 15 years of menopause, i am worried about her, how common is this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

She should see a doc: About 15% of women get some bleeding after menopause. However it should be looked into. Most of the time it is due to thining of the uterus, polyps (a little overgrowth that is benign) or not really from the uterus at all. But more concerning endometrial issues (dysplasia, cancer) should be ruled out. Expect an exam and an ultrasound. Good luck!
