A member asked:

39 years old, did not have period for 54 days, started bleeding very light, dark coloured and smells, is this sign of menopause?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually not : The average age of menopause is around 52. If you have a family history of early menopause, you may experience symptoms sooner. Dark blood with slight metallic smell usually represents old blood. It can occur with any cycle, but see your doctor to be sure. There may be other reasons your cycle was delayed, like pregnancy.
