Might somebody have both celiacs disease and ibs?

Yes: Important to check that celiac is controlled on biopsy. Sometimes ibs symptoms improve on a gluten free diet. But sometimes they can worsen if the diet now contains foods that either cause more constipation or cause more gas. Evaluate your diet and make sure you get a balance of high fiber foods and monitor your symptoms with different types of foods. Stress also triggers flares of ibs.

Yes: Someone with great gluten avoidance can also have food intolerances/reactions that perpetuate IBS symptoms. Lactose intolerance, reactions to #40 red food dye, and others can all make the level of control a confusing issue.
