Possible arrhythmia: A rapid heart beat with abdominal pulsations (particularly noticeable in a thin person) might signify a tachycardia type arrhythmia (either svt or VT in origin). If large fluctuations in neck veins are seen it could favor VT as te cause given the av dissociation that would typically occur (atria contracting against a closed av valve producing cannon "a" waves. Patient activated monitoring helpful.
