Some antidepressants: Certain antidepressants in low doses are acceptable for migraine prevention. The tricyclics such as Elavil (amitriptyline) are a particular class that have been used for years. They work better over a longer period of time and as such should be used primarily under a physician supervision.

Preventive drugs: You may want to try petadolex, a herbal extract of the butterbur plant, level a (highest) recommended by the american headache society in 2012. Patients seem to feel that it works and with benign side effects: http://www.Diditreallywork.Com/dirw_site/website/petadolex/report1 valproic acid and topiramate are fda approved for prevention of migraine, but have more side effects and need blood tests.
