Read labels: Read labels, and avoid processed sugars because simple sugars as opposed to complex carbohydrates are the ones that have many of the empty calories. For example- high fructose corn syrup, sucrose- table sugar. The sugars that come in natural fruits are ok, if you want less of those sugars, eat the fruits ( bananas) before they get too ripe.
