Wilms tumor: Also known as nephroblastoma, is a malignant tumor of the kidney, but the tumor does not function like normal renal tissue. Luckily we have lots of functional reserve, so we can lose an entire kidney (often required to treat wt) and still have adequate renal function for a lifetime. It is, however, important for kidney function to be monitored regularly during and after treatment.
