A few things...: ... Toothache, swelling, sounds like the tooth needs root canal therapy or extraction.

Infection: Needs rx immediately. Will not self-heal. Tooth probably needs root canal rx and restoration or extraction and replacement. Please call your dentist know before you have an acute problem.

It depends: What can be done will depend on what the cause of the toothache and jaw swelling are. If the cause is a decayed and infected tooth, then there are two possibilities: root canal treatment or extraction. If the cause is something less common, like cancer, surgery and other treatments may be necessary. See your dentist for an exam to determine the cause(s), and the best treatment for the problem.
