Being 19: Is not easy. You're growing into adulthood, developing your own way of being -- including your own self-assessment. But, you're still dependent on your father for approval, and hope he'll be supportive instead of how he's being. Congratulations on your commitment to working out. How do you feel about your progress? Is your dad overweight? Some criticize others rather than work on themselves.

Who Says Good Enough: It can be exquisitely painful when we feel criticized by our parents/loved ones - esp 4 something so personal our appearance. As kids, we tend 2 translate these messages 2 "i'm not good enough ... Not lovable enough." many end up burdened w/sadness & shame, anger or all of these, as a result. Is it possible that the msgs from ur dad reflect things about him? His fears? Does he feel good enough?
