I'm getting a surgery for medial malleolus fracture. i have no other medical issues and take no other medicines. should i take aspirin to prevent blood clots?

No !: Aspirin is an anti-platelet drug that increases bleeding. Avoid Aspirin as well as ibuprofen, naproxen, or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (nsaids).

Not a bad idea: Medial malleolar fx surgery is performed under tourniquet. Hence, no increased blood loss risks whether you take Aspirin before and/or after surgery. Trauma studies have confirmed that continuing Aspirin through the peri-op period does not increase risks for these type surgeries, but can reduce potential thromboembolic events. Although blood clot risk is small, it is not unheard of.
