Inflammation if goin: Erythrocyte sedimentation rate is a very old test that roughly measures the amount of inflammatory proteins in the blood. These proteins can be due to a rheumatic disease, inflammatory disease or infectious disease. Most important is the context in which it occurs and why the test was ordered in the first place.
