Why did the norplant (levonorgestrel) have a recall n january 2001 i got mine in 1997 was 17 when i got it?

Poor placement: The fda felt the training in placement was inadequate and removal frequently became a nightmare. It was 6 implants instead of the current nexplanon, 1 implant, with better required training, fewer complications. If yours was placed appropriately and easily removed, no problems. It was a good option for many.
