Maybe: Systemic steroids usually cause insomnia rather than drowsiness but i guess it could have the opposite effect in an individual with significant depression.

See below: If the corticosteriods are being used to treat and the pain was causing the patient to be unable to sleep, that might explain why they are sleeping better if they have no pain now.

NO: Corticosteroids worsen sleep habits and frequently cause insomnia. In addition, they can have serious and even fatal side effects when taken in excess or for too long a period of time, particularly if you don't need them in the first place. That's a very bad trade-off when there are effective meds for insomnia.
