Steroids & affect: In some cases, being on steroids can evoke a euphoric response. In people with bipolar disorder, they can also induce mania. Such a person wouldn't feel "depressed" at the moment. Other possibilities include feeling better from whatever "somatic" reason you were given the steroids. Emotional and mental responses are deeply interwoven with "somatic" ones -- and this fact deserves respect.

Low cortisol level?: You may have low cortisol levels and this can cause depression. Giving corticosteroid could therefore help improve your mood.
