Is it possible to have tendonitis in the top part of your ankle? is it possible for tendonitis pain to onset suddenly?

Yes: Tendons cross the ankle in many areas. Pain can come on suddenly. Look to the causative/related activity.

Yes: That's a somewhat unusual location for tendonitis but it would be possible, and the symptoms can present suddenly. Alternatively you may have unknowingly sprained the ankle, or there may be another underlying cause. Try anti-inflammatory meds and avoid aggravating activities, and see a physician if symptoms persist.

Certainly: The extensor tendons run right over that area and you can get tendonitis easily if foot function is off or by injury and overuse.

Yes: You can have tendinitis at the site of any tendon and it is the result of overuse.
