Acute flare up: I would suggest an acute gout attack, however, this condition is very unusual for a 17 year old female. It may just be an insect bite or perhaps a misstep from the day before that became painful overnight. If it does not improve in 24-48 hours i would suggest having it looked at. Good luck.
