A member asked:

How true that eating raw rice can cause harmful bacteria in the body like salmonella? is there really side effect of taking raw rice?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not really: Any food can be contaminated with bacterial pathogens but commercially purchased rice is not likely to be any more dangerous than any other product. Certainly, if taken directly from a rice paddy in countries in which human excrement is used as fertilizer, this may create a risk.
