Chronic diarrhea: Chronic diarrhea is decreased stool consistency for >4 weeks. Many causes: nonabsorbable sugars or salts in the gut, too much fat in the stool (malabsorption/ maldigestion), inflammatory bowel disease, infections, poor blood flow to the bowel, medications, laxatives, even cancers. This is a job for a doc. You will need a good pe, stool cultures/chemistries/fat evaluation, crp/esr, ?Colonoscopy.
