Heavy sleep: The problem might be that you are not turning enough in your sleep. This could be due to sleep deprivation, alcohol, sleeping pills, or drugs.

See doctor: Is this something that is getting worse over weeks or did it just happen once? And if you really meant that you couldn't see for *minutes* then you should see a doctor. If it was just 10 seconds of blindness and if it just happened once, then i'd be slightly less concerned. If it's a recent development that happens every time you sleep on your left side, i'd definitely look into it further.
