First few steps hurt: You may have what's called an acute plantar fasciitis or possibly a heel spur do not walk barefooted, wear shoes with a heel use ice and if pain continues see a podiatrist who will take x-rays and advise you further.

HEEL SPUR/FASCIITIS: The most common, but not only, reason is inflammation of a ligament-like structure that is attached to the bottom of the heel. It's called the plantar fascia; inflammation is called plantar fasciitis. You may also have a bone spur on the bottom of the heel. You will need an x-ray from a podiatrist to confirm.
