Tendinitis : There are tendons on the medial and lateral aspect of the ankle that can get inflamed without any true trauma. Based on your brief history, my suspicion is that you have tendinitis. Rest, ice, anti-inflammatories and an ankle brace can be plan a. Stress fracture, ligament sprain, etc. Could also be the cause. See a sports med doc if not improving.

Swelling : Your best course of action is to see your podiatrist for an evaluation. Xrays and or MRI may be indicated. Waiting prolongs recovery. Good luck.

Ankle pain: See your orthopedic surgeon. Get it checked for tendoachilles tearing. Mri is best to show extent of tear. Tennis is a very common cause.
